Preparing an app for App Store and Google Play release

Publishing requires more than uploading a build. Prepare account ownership, product information, privacy details and a tested release. Store requirements can change, so confirm the current instructions in the platform consoles before submission.

Prepare accounts and release assets

Keep developer accounts under the organisation operating the app. Prepare descriptions, screenshots, icons and support contact details. Check that the displayed information matches the delivered features. Organise signing and build procedures so that releases do not depend on one undocumented personal account.

Validate the review experience

Test authentication, permissions, purchases and important journeys on representative devices. Provide reviewers with the access and instructions they need. Confirm that required services are available during review. Common avoidable problems include broken login, misleading descriptions, incomplete privacy information and features that fail outside a developer’s test environment.

Plan rollout and monitoring

Use beta testing to identify issues before a wider release. Prepare monitoring, support and a process for prioritising defects. Store review timing and acceptance cannot be guaranteed by the development team. Keep the release checklist current and record decisions so that future updates are easier to submit and operate.
