Project guide

Budgeting for a marketplace or matching app

A matching product needs more than profiles and a search screen. It must establish trust, connect two sides of a market and support the resulting interaction. Define the first transaction or exchange the app should enable before estimating development.

Design the core matching process

Specify profile information, search criteria and how suggestions are produced. Manual matching can be useful in an early test before investing in sophisticated algorithms. Decide how users express availability and intent. Include permissions and moderation requirements so that the matching process is understandable and safe to operate.

Scope communication and transactions

Messaging, booking, payment, notifications and reviews each introduce work. Choose the smallest complete journey that proves users receive value. Include an administration interface for support and dispute handling where needed. Define how a failed or cancelled exchange is managed rather than considering only the successful flow.

Prepare the launch strategy

A marketplace needs enough relevant participants on both sides. Targeting a specific category or location can make the first test more practical. The revenue model influences payment and reporting requirements. Measure completed useful exchanges and repeat usage before expanding the product or adding complex matching features.
